Bollywood struggles to make an impact in other languages

Bollywood is continuously trying to create a market in other languages but is continuously failing in doing so. From South India, films like Baahubali, Baahubali2, KGF, KGF2, Pushpa, Kantara, and many more films did wonders not just in the South but even emerged as massive blockbusters in the Hindi market. This is something Bollywood has not able to replicate so far.

Even Bollywood’s most prestigious YRF spy franchise featuring A-listers like Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan have failed to create an impact in all languages. These films were a blockbuster only in Hindi. Even the recent Tiger3 managed to collect just Rs 1Cr+ nett in other languages on opening day. Even Shahrukh Khan’s Bollywood industry hit Jawan failed to create a major impact in the South despite having the backing of Atlee, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi.

South Indian films are creating records in Bollywood markets and entering into top 5 and collecting 100Cr+ grossers there. The main reason for this is that Bollywood is only concentrating on action and not emotion. Movies down south have a lot of action but it is the emotions, taking, and characterization that made Baahubali, Pushpa, KGF etc. big hits. It’s about time Bollywood filmmakers understand the needs of audience instead of making big budget action entertainer and expecting them to strike gold.
